Our rigorous Criminal Justice-Corrections Program is designed for students who want to be corrections officers and others seeking to advance their careers within the corrections system.
Graduates are highly regarded throughout the tristate area and go on to work in federal, state and county prisons, probation, law, research design, human services, and other rewarding fields.
Graduates of the program will be able to:
- Discuss the institutional and legal processes of the correctional system in a constitutionally protected arena.
- Analyze important legal and ethical dilemmas in corrections management.
- Summarize key issues in correctional institutions and correctional management philosophies.
- Analyze the ongoing problems in correctional institutions, evaluating alternative suggestions for effective reform.
- Use appropriate tools of research & analysis to produce effective written/oral communication about concepts & issues in criminal justice.

Prerequisites
Students must demonstrate Algebra I competency before taking courses in the major. Algebra I competency may be verified with a passing score on the College’s placement test or by completing the appropriate class.
