This certificate program shares the same courses as Mechanical Engineering Technology, providing the right combination of theory and hands-on training to prepare students for employment opportunities in the design, manufacture and set-up of mechanical equipment such as engines, power generation and control systems, and manufacturing systems (including robots).
Specific job responsibilities include working as a designer, computer aided design/drafting, instrumentation and testing of machines and systems, and developing and troubleshooting manufacturing systems.
Graduates of the program will be able to:
- Apply the knowledge, techniques, skills, and modern tools of the discipline to narrowly defined engineering technology activities.
- Conduct standard tests and measurements, and to conduct, analyze, and interpret experiments.
- Apply written, oral, and graphical communication in both technical and nontechnical environments; and an ability to identify and use appropriate technical literature.
- Demonstrate an understanding of and a commitment to address professional and ethical responsibilities, including a respect for diversity.
